During the days of vaudeville, balcony seats furthest from the stage were the cheapest tickets in the house. Working-class patrons in those seats were tough critics, heckling and throwing peanuts at the performers. Some might say the East Side, perched above downtown, is Saint Paul's peanut gallery. But rather than tossing peanuts at the performance down below, we're voicing our criticism with words. A transformation is taking place on the East Side—follow along as we chronicle the journey.
